You can meet our available dogs, receive and submit our adoption application ONLY during our designated Petsmart meet & greet adoption events. However, PetSmart has temporarily suspended these in-store events until further notice. All adoptions are currently handled on an appointment only basis. If you wish to adopt, send an email to the shelter identifying the specific dog you are interested in adopting and we will send you the necessary paperwork and instructions. We will work with Shih Tzu owners considering giving up their pets, offering alternatives and education in an effort to help keep the Shih Tzu in it's current home. Our mission also includes two special programs. Our Shih Tzu are spayed/neutered prior to adoption, current on annual inoculations and heartworm preventative and have an AVID microchip implant. We are closely monitoring the Coronavirus Pandemic; it is amazing how challenging life has become in such a very short time. The Safehouse is not open to the public.
We are an IRS recognized 501 tax-exempt organization, your donation is tax deductable. Applicant must be willing to allow a Shih Tzu Rescue, Adoption & Education Safehouse representative to complete pre & post adoption follow up, either in person, and/or by telephone. I currently pick him up to go in and out of the house due to my two stairs. When he is ready to come in, he barks twice for assistance. He is a very good eater and his heart meds are added to his food.
